MARVILLOUS

Showcasing my faith in People and Prayer.
Marvillous.com is a personal archive of my passion for creating Rosaries and Jewelry as well as my interest in Graphics and Photography.  Although I create primarily Catholic rosaries, from time to time I create rosaries for friends who belong to other faiths.

WELCOME TO
MARVILLOUS  STUDIO, NEW YORK CITY.

A novice in jewelry making,  I enjoy the creative process as well as doing painstaking research into the detailed, fascinating  art and craft of making heirloom-quality jewelry.  I love working with vintage beads, semi-precious stones, and the finest components available at this time.   One can never learn enough about the work of such great designers like Miriam Haskell and the pioneer of crystal beads,  Daniel Swarovski, whose legacy is captured in the radiance of crystals beads like "Comet Argent,"  "Jonquil,"  "Montana," "Ceylon Topaz," "Hadium,"  "Jet" and "Capri Blue" and on and on...!

Enjoy the Gallery and God bless!

As a creative artist, I love writing, photography, and designing "pixtures" that develop satirical themes.  I look forward to sharing...  the love with you in these pages!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

ALL NEW IN "JOOLERY":

"VIOLETTE SERIES"

APPLE BLOSSOM  Paters are vintage pink lampwork beads from Italy.  Aves are speckled white glass ovals, also vintage.  Crucifix and Center are gold-plated.  The center medal reflects symbols of the good earth and its bounty: wheat, wine and flowers.

MARGARITAVILLE  Daniel Swarovski's Light Blue Margaritas circa 1949, now rare in the 14mm size, are the Pater beads. Aves are faceted, clear rock crystal rondelles, 8mm.  The medal and cross are sterling. Theading this 16" long rosary is the new .925 Extreme Silver Flex, a steel wire covered in nylon and then coated with Sterling Silver.  Test strength of this fragile looking wire is 26 lbs!

MEDITERRANEO   When Daniel Swarovksi returned from a European holiday, he developed crystal beads that captured the sheerest blue he saw in the waters of the Mediterranean sea.  These vintage 10mm faceted crystals called Mediterranean Blue, quite scarce in this size and up, are the result of Swarovski's experiment in blue and they make up the Paters in this 18.5" rosary.  (DS also paid tribute to the waters off the Isle of Capri with another deeper blue crystal.)  Instead of bead caps, tiny Sterling circle spacers and freshwater seed pearls are used to show off as much of Daniel's blue. The Aves are faceted green quartz rounds:  rarely is there a blue sky, a body of blue water iin Nature without the green, green grass of home nearby.  Silvery Matsuno beads connect the Aves.  Our Lady's Medal and the wonderfully detailed Crucifix are Sterling Silver.

BRAVE HEART   Daniel Swarovski's Garnet mushroom bicones, rarely seen anymore in 10mm, are the Paters.  Gold-plated bead caps, fluted round beads, also gold-plated, and teeny Swarovski crystals, 3mm, keep these very red brave hearts warm.  Faceted Czech glass, smoky Topaz, hail the Blessed Mary with their sheen.  Brilliant Matsuno beads link the Ave beads. The bronze Miraculous Medal and Crucifix are connected to the prayer chain with "Marvilloops" made of tiny Swarovksi crystal bicones, 3mm.  This rosary is 19" long, including the 1.5" cross.

LADY BLUE   Open Thumbnail, left.  Hail, king of beads!  These big glass Paters are from 1950's Japan. Scrumptious as the new Mega M&M's. Scanned image does not capture the glow of the milky pink Ave beads.  Crucifix and Miraculous Medal are bronze.  Rosary length is 19.5" including 1.5" cross.

A MOTHER'S PIETY  This glass pendant reprises Michaelangelo's rendering of Mother Mary's supreme sacrifice.  Seed pearls, Swarovski crystals and a gold bead dot the Marvillous pendant bail.  For this photo, I used a chain of freshwater pearls but a chain of gold, garnet or other semi-precious stones will do just as nicely!

GOD'S LITTLE ACRE  A Decima is a mini-rosary that helps one speak to the Lord, even for a little white during one's busy day.  These Aves are large 18mm emerald green ovals, fine vintage glass beads with delightful blue, white and caramel... squiggles. Firepolised Czech glass links the Aves. The Pater is jade mined in China a long time ago.  Center medal and the 2" Crucifix are pewter.  This Decima is 9" long, end to end. (PRIVATE COLLECTION)

ROSA DECIMA  Aves are lampwork beads with tiny pink flowers.  Pater is a 20mm rose quartz bead. Bronze cross is a replica of a filigree cross from France, ca. 18th century.  (PRIVATE COLLECTION)
